Jill Kalman, MD

Jill Kalman, MD is the Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer and Deputy Physician-in-Chief.
Dr. Kalman joined Northwell in May 2014 as Associate Medical Director in the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, and as the Associate Medical Director at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. She later served as the Executive Director of Lenox Hill Hospital and was responsible for the quality of patient care, safety and day-to-day operations. Under Dr. Kalman’s leadership, Lenox Hill elevated its reputation as a regional, national and global destination for top quality tertiary care. She and her team significantly expanded the breadth of clinical programs, successfully recruited physician talent and grew patient volume. She was instrumental in successfully leading the Lenox Hill response to the COVID-19 pandemic and its recover efforts and achieving 91st percentile in the most recent Workforce Engagement Survey. Lenox Hill also received the coveted Magnet status last year for its commitment to nursing excellence.
Dr. Kalman was also the Medical Director for the Office of Patient and Customer Experience for Northwell Health, in which she lead the initiative for the physician’s role in the patient experience.
Dr. Kalman is an expert in congestive heart failure and has published extensively in that area. She began her career on the faculty at Mount Sinai Hospital. She also started and developed the Heart Failure Program at Beth Israel Medical Center and was subsequently recruited to New York University Medical Center as director of the Cardiomyopathy Program and chief of cardiac services of Tisch Hospital.
In 2007, she returned to Mount Sinai as the Director of the Cardiomyopathy Program, where she oversaw quality, patient safety and health care delivery initiatives, broadly across the medical center. She was the Physician Leader for Readmission Reduction Initiatives, and the Medical Director of the Preventable Admissions Care Team (PACT), an innovative transitional care program that focuses on complex patients and their psychosocial drivers of readmission. Dr. Kalman has dedicated her career to improving the quality and quantity of life in patients with all stage of heart disease and has extensive experience managing patients with advanced heart disease.
After graduating with honors from the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Kalman received her medical degree from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency, chief residency and cardiology fellowship at the Mount Sinai Medical Center, including a research fellowship in heart failure and cardiac transplantation.

Jennifer H. Mieres, MD, is a professor of Cardiology and Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra Northwell. As Senior Vice President of Northwell Health’s, Center for Equity of Care, she has oversight of and provides strategic guidance for Northwell’s diversity and health equity initiatives and serves as the health system’s first Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer. Under Dr Mieres’ leadership Northwell Health has been recognized as a top Health system for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, most notably by Diversity Inc. as a “top 10” healthcare institution for a measurable commitment to health care justice. Northwell Health has been in the top 10 list for 9 consecutive years and recognized as number one in 2020, 2021and 2022.
A graduate of Bennington College and Boston University School of Medicine; she is a Fellow of The American Heart Association (AHA), American College of Cardiology (ACC), and Master of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology (ASNC) and served as the first female President of the ASNC in 2009.
Dr. Mieres’ clinical focus and research are centered on the elimination of health and gender disparities and cardiovascular disease in women. She is member of Northwell’s Katz institute of Women’s Health steering committee and is a leading advocate for Women’s Cardiovascular Health, patient-centered healthcare and medical education reform. Dr Mieres has authored/co-authored over 65 scientific publications, including as lead author of the 2005 and 2014 AHA cardiac imaging guidelines for women. As an international speaker, she has presented her research as distinguished faculty at over 100 forums and conferences: both nationally and internationally including scientific sessions of the ACC, AHA, ASNC, the International Conference of Nuclear Cardiology and IHI/BMJ International Forum on Quality & Safety in Healthcare.
A true patient and community advocate; Dr. Mieres is actively involved in service. She serves on the ACC’s Diversity and Inclusion committee, is a national spokesperson for AHA’s Go Red For Women movement and has served as chair of several national AHA committees, as well as the Scientific Advisory Board for WomenHeart.
A prolific communicator; Dr Mieres recently co-authored Heart Smarter for Women; Six weeks to a Healthier Heart (Advantage 2022 ) and Reigniting The Human Connection : A Pathway to Diversity Inclusion and HealthEquity (Forbes 2022).Her previous book, Heart Smart for Women: Six S.T.E.P.S IN Six Weeks to Heart Healthy Living was published in October 2017 and the Spanish version of “Heart Smart”, Un Corazon Saludable Para La Mujer Moderna: Seis P.A.S.O.S en Seis Semanas para Mantener La Salud Del Corazon in February 2019. Following her Emmynominated documentary A Woman’s Heart, (2001); her creative ingenuity has evolved as an executive producer of a two-part documentary series Rx: The Quiet Revolution and Rx: Doctors of Tomorrow, (2015). The films have forged a change in the health care narrative while garnering placement on national TV network PBS and in educational institutions. She is an Executive producer of the award winning women’s health documentary “ Ms.Diagnosed” which premiered at the Cinequest film festival on March 7, 2020. Dr. Mieres is routinely called upon by national and local media for expert commentary and has been designated as a most- credible voice in the healthcare industry.
A recipient of several prestigious awards, including the 2022 ACC Distinguished Service Award and the 2022 AHA Physician of The Year Award, Dr. Mieres has been recognized as a tireless force; fostering diversity in medical education, sex and gender equity in cardiovascular care, as well as health care redesign to address the elimination of health care delivery disparities.
Stacey E. Rosen, MD, FACC, FACP, FAHA

Stacey E. Rosen, MD is the Senior Vice President for the Katz Institute for Women’s Health, the Partners Council Professor of Women’s Health and professor of cardiology at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. Dr. Rosen is a leading expert in the field of cardiovascular disease in women’s and oversees women’s health services at Northwell Health with a focus on the elimination of healthcare disparities through comprehensive clinical programs, gender-based research, community partnerships and education.
Dr. Rosen has been a practicing cardiologist for over 30 years and co-authored the new book, Heart Smarter for Women: Six Weeks to a Healthier Heart published in 2022. She also co-produced her first documentary titled “Ms.Diagnosed” which premiered at the Cinequest film festival in 2020.
A longtime volunteer for the American Heart Association (AHA),she has served in leadership roles at the local, regional and national level. In 2018, she received the AHA’s Women in Cardiology Mentoring Award and in 2021, she received the AHA’s Physician of the Year Award.
Dr. Rosen is a graduate of the six-year medical program at Boston University School of Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Physicians, and the AHA.
She is a recipient of numerous media, industry and healthcare awards and is regularly called upon by the media as an expert on women’s heart health.
Deborah Schiff

Deborah Schiff is the Executive Vice President of Ambulatory Strategy and Business Development for Northwell Health. In this role, Mrs. Schiff is responsible for building the ambulatory network through physician alignment, IPA development and ambulatory site development, including medical office buildings and ambulatory surgery centers. Under her leadership, the health system’s medical group has more than doubled in size, with over 4,000 employed physicians in Northwell Health Physician Partners, now among one of the largest medical groups in the country. In addition, the health system operates over 850 ambulatory sites in the region.
With more than 25 years of experience developing and implementing strategies to facilitate programmatic growth and development, Mrs. Schiff remains focused on building a network of providers and ambulatory venues to manage the health of more than 12 million people in the health system’s service area. A cornerstone of the ambulatory network remains strengthening and expanding relationships with the approximately 12,000 affiliated physicians serving our communities. Through these relationships, the health system has expanded its reach into the community, promoting health, wellness and early detection of disease, thus ensuring the best possible outcomes.
Mrs. Schiff is actively involved in the community serving on the Board of Directors of Sacred Heart Academy and the Energeia Partnership, an organization that focuses on building regional stewardship. In addition, Mrs. Schiff has worked with the Nassau County Department of Health to address health care disparities in the community and served on the boards of Hispanic Counseling Center, Health & Welfare Council of Long Island and the Girl Scouts of Nassau County. Most recently, Mrs. Schiff was named to Crain’s list of Notable Women in Healthcare.
