Dr. Gottesman is an Assistant Professor of Dermatology and Pathology at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. She is passionate about diagnosis and management of granulomatous diseases, special needs dermatology affecting children and adults on the autism spectrum disorder, and women’s health. She is involved in resident and medical student education and mentorship within dermatology and dermatopathology. She serves as the Director of Dermatopathology Resident Education and is recipient of the 2024 Northwell Health Outstanding Teacher Award. She has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed literature, authored several book chapters, as well as given talks at local, regional, and national dermatology and pathology conferences. She is involved in community wellness via community education about skin cancer incidence, sunscreen safety practices and providing community skin cancer screenings.

Dr. Pooja R. Shah is an Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra and the Director of Women’s Skin Health & Wellness at Northwell Health. She is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology.
Dr. Shah graduated as class salutatorian from Macaulay Honors College at CUNY Hunter with a BA in Psychology (concentration in Behavioral Neuroscience) and double minor in Biology and Religious Studies. She earned her medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine, with distinction in Community Service and Global Health.
She completed her internship in Internal Medicine at North Shore University Hospital & Long Island Jewish Medical Center, receiving the ‘Intern of the Year’ award, and her dermatology residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center, where patients recognized her as a ‘Strong Star.’
Dr. Shah’s clinical and research interests include medical, procedural, and surgical dermatology, women’s skin health, integrative dermatology, and skin of color. She is an active member of national organizations such as the American Academy of Dermatology, Long Island Dermatological Society, Vulvar Dermatoses Research Symposium, and International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Disease.
She has published numerous peer-reviewed articles, served as an ad-hoc reviewer for leading dermatology journals, and presented at local and national conferences.
Dr. Shah is dedicated to improving dermatologic care access, patient education, community service, medical training, physician wellness, and mentorship.
