She provides full-spectrum women\u2019s health care, including prenatal care, family planning, and minimally invasive gynecological surgeries and is credentialed for the da Vinci robotic surgical system.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Abdul-Karim studied Anthropology at Columbia University and completed a pre-doctoral fellowship in Bioethics at the NIH Clinical Center prior to attending medical school. She received her MD from the George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC, where she did a special concentration in Health Policy. She completed her OB\/GYN residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn prior to joining Northwell Health in August 2021.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of her approach to care, Dr. Abdul-Karim strives to be a culturally sensitive and compassionate patient advocate. She is chair of the LIJMC Women in Medicine program, developed a mentoring program for female physicians, and made history as the first female president of LIJMC&#8217;s Medical Staff Society. She serves as faculty advisor for the Zucker School of Medicine&#8217;s Gold Humanism Honor Society and participates in medical missions to the Dominican Republic. Dr. Rodriguez is Secretary of the Nassau County Medical Society and President-Elect of the McCune Smith-Cordice Medical Society.
