Joining Northwell Health in 2017, Ronit Gilad, MD is a board certified neurosurgeon. Dr. Gilad was previously a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy where she served as the staff physician in the Department of Neurosurgery at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia. While in the service, Dr. Gilad treated active duty members and their families. She participated in a combat traumatic brain injury program and helped treat wounded soldiers upon return from overseas deployment. Dr. Gilad is a member of numerous professional organizations and has published in a variety of scholarly journals including the Journal of Neurosurgery, American Journal of Neuroradiology, The Spine Journal and Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology.

With over ten years of clinical expertise, Mohammad Moussavi, MD is the Director of the Neurovascular and Endovascular Program at Staten Island University Hospital. Dr. Moussavi earned his medical degree at Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences and completed his neurology residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Dr. Moussavi then completed a vascular neurology (stroke) fellowship, followed by a neuroendovascular surgical (neurointerventional) fellowship with embedded neurocritical care training at New Jersey Neuroscience Institute, Seton Hall University. Dr. Moussavi was one of the main faculties in training vascular neurology, neurocritical care and neuroendovascular surgery fellows, in addition to neurology residents, prior to joining Staten Island University Hospital. Rasouli, joins Northwell Health as the Director of Complex and Adult Spinal Deformity Surgery at Staten Island University Hospital. Prior to joining Northwell, Dr. Rasouli was an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the Cleveland Clinic and helped develop the minimally invasive and robotic spine surgery programs. He graduated top of his medical school class at the University of the Witwatersrand and pursued an international surgery and neurosurgery career with training and fellowships in South Africa, the UK, Canada and the United States. As Director of Neuromuscular Services at Staten Island University Hospital, Edward Yu, MD helped establish Staten Island’s first multidisciplinary Comprehensive Neuromuscular Clinic treating patients with complex neuromuscular disorders. After receiving his medical degree from Chicago Medical School, Dr. Yu completed his neurology training at North Shore- Long Island Jewish Medical Center, serving as the Administrative Chief Resident. He pursued his interest in neuromuscular medicine serving as a Fellow at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Since then, he has established clinical and research programs at Staten Island University Hospital and also actively training the next generation of physicians with his involvement in Graduate Medical Education. Dr. Yu is dedicated to ensuring patients receive excellent and compassionate care with the clinical expertise needed for their neurologic needs.
