Dr. Nicholas Sgaglione is Professor and Chair of the Northwell Health System Department of Orthopedic Surgery and at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra / Northwell. He also serves as the Senior Vice President for Orthopaedics for the Northwell Health System and Executive Director of the Northwell Orthopaedic Institute in New York.
Dr. Nicholas Sgaglione has been in clinical practice for 31 years in Great Neck, New York. He graduated from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York followed by a fellowship in sports medicine at the Southern California Orthopaedic Institute in Los Angeles.
Dr. Sgaglione was elected as president of the Arthroscopy Association of North America for 2012- 2013 and served on its Board of Directors beginning in 2008. Dr. Sgaglione was elected by his peers to the American Orthopaedic Association in 2006, a prestigious national society for leadership, education and research. He serves on the Arthroscopy Association of North America Education Foundation and is the current chair of that Foundation. He has also served as the New York State delegate for the American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine. He is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine, International Cartilage Regeneration and Joint Preservation Society, International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine and the New York Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr. Sgaglione has served on the Board of Trustees of the Arthroscopy Journal and is the current Chairman of the Journal Board of Trustees. He is on the editorial board of several medical journals and is the editor of three orthopaedic textbooks and more than 100 published articles and book chapters on knee, shoulder, ankle and cartilage surgery. He has given more than 1000 invited lectures and presentations in his career. Dr. Sgaglione specializes in sports medicine is the Medical Director for Hofstra University Athletics. He has served as the team orthopaedist for numerous Long Island High Schools as well as the team physician for the United States Merchant Marine Academy for the past 31 years. Dr. Sgaglione is an honorary police surgeon for the NYPD. He has served as an orthopaedic consultant to the United States Ski Team and the US Professional Golf Association. Dr. Sgaglione is also the team orthopedist and the medical director for the Major League Lacrosse, New York Lizards.

Dr. Rokito is the Division Chief of Sports Medicine in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, Northwell Health. He is the physician leader of the Sports Medicine Executive Committee for Northwell Health. He is also an Assistant Professor at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra Northwell.
Dr. Rokito completed his doctorate at Boston University School of Medicine. He then completed his residency at NYU Langone – Hospital for Joint Diseases, followed by a sports medicine fellowship at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Southern California. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery. He is also Sports Medicine Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is an active member of the Arthroscopy Association of America (AANA).
Dr. Rokito has been in practice for over 20 years and his philosophy of patient care is “empathic care with expertise.” His patient population ranges from “little leaguers to professionals” and “adolescents to seniors.” His clinical interests are acute traumatic, overuse, and degenerative conditions of the shoulder, elbow and knee using nonoperative and state of the art operative treatment, when necessary. Common shoulder conditions treated include, but are not limited to, instability problems, rotator cuff, and arthritis. Common elbow conditions treated are tendinopathies and tendon and ligament ruptures. Common knee conditions treated include meniscus tears, ligament ruptures, articular cartilage injuries and arthritis.
He participates in clinical research and his work has led to publications in peer reviewed journals and multiple presentations at regional, national, and international meetings. He is a frequent instructor at AANA meetings and teaches the latest techniques to orthopaedic surgeons.
Dr. Rokito has been an associate team orthopaedist for the New York Islanders for the past 10 years, as well as the head team physician for the Long Island Ducks for the past 20 years. He also oversees the Northwell Health Sports Medicine Program which provides coverage and certified athletic trainers to 13 local high schools. In addition, Dr. Rokito was most recently the recipient of the 2019 Achievement in Orthopaedics Award at Northwell Health.

Dr. Cohn is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist with a clinical focus on arthroscopic treatment of the knee, shoulder, hip, ankle, and elbow. Dr. Cohn also specializes in anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, hip labral injury and impingement, and shoulder arthroscopy and shoulder replacement surgery.
After graduating from Mount Sinai School of Medicine with distinction in research, Dr. Cohn performed his orthopaedic surgery residency at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases where he was recognized for his leadership and clinical teaching. He completed his sports medicine fellowship training at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. As a fellow in sports medicine and shoulder surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital, Dr. Cohn served as an assistant team physician for the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, New England Revolution, and numerous colleges and high schools, gaining experience in treating athletes at all levels.
Currently, Dr. Cohn is the team orthopaedic surgeon for Hofstra University and several Long Island high schools. He also serves as the director of Northwell Health s Dance Medicine and Performing Arts Program, Young Adult Hip Preservation Program, and as the medical director of the Hofstra University Athletic Training Program. Dr. Cohn’s academic titles include Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Zucker School of Medicine and the Associate Program Director of the Northwell Health Plainview Hospital Orthopaedic Residency Program.
Dr. Cohn’s research interests include clinical outcomes of sports medicine procedures including arthroscopic surgery and ligament reconstruction. He has published in numerous peer-reviewed orthopaedic journals on topics including shoulder instability, shoulder injuries in throwing athletes, groin injuries, hip arthroscopy, patella (knee cap) dislocation, anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus tears, knee replacement surgery, and sideline management of athletic injuries.
Calogero is a Senior Athletic Trainer at Northwell Health while being outreached to West Hempstead High School. He received his B.S in Athletic Training at Dominican College where he was a student athlete.
Brian received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Touro College in 2010 and now specializes in orthopaedic and sports rehabilitation. Brian is also a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). He is also a Board Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist (OCS), Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), McKenzie Certified (Cert. MDT), Y-Balance Test Certified (YBT), and a Certified Clinical Instructor.
I am the full-time athletic trainer at North Shore HS in Glen Head NY. I have been working at my current school for 5.5 years and have been working in the high school setting for almost 8 years in total. I received my undergraduate degree in athletic training from Salisbury University, Maryland in 2013 & my masters in exercise physiology from West Chester University, Pennsylvania in 2015.
I also held my CSCS for several years and continue to work as a fitness & life coach at Core Fitness Studios in Glen Cove. North Shore HS has been a tier 1 safe sports school since my arrival in 2015 and still holds this title through the National Athletic Training Association.
Andrew Goodwillie, M.D specializes in Sports Medicine and has practiced orthopaedic surgery in the Great Neck area since 2012. He holds the academic title of Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.
Dr. Goodwillie earned his medical degree from New York University after completing his undergraduate degree at Yale University. He then completed an orthopedic surgery residency at UMDNJ Robert Wood Johnson, followed by a Sports Medicine fellowship at Lenox Hill Hospital where he was an integral part of the medical staff for the New York Jets (NFL) and New York Islanders (NHL).
Dr. Goodwillie is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who addresses a wide range of athletic injuries with detailed assessment and care; including acute tendon and ligament injuries, chronic tendon and overuse injuries, sprains/strains, fractures, and any other sports injuries. He is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons as well as the Arthroscopy Association of North America. He is dedicated to leadership and education in orthopaedic surgery, and is a published educator at the local, regional and national level.
Dr. Goodwillie practices as an attending surgeon at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center and North Shore University Hospital where he promotes a comprehensive and individualized approach to patient care. He recognizes the importance of shared decision making with his patients and practices state of the art surgical procedures. His passion for the treatment of athletes is exemplified by his current position as the team orthopedist for Hofstra University (NCAA DI) and multiple local high schools, as well as previously acting as a team physician for the New York Cosmos (NASL) and New York Lizards (MLL).
Dr. Grande is widely recognized as a world leader in cartilage repair. He pioneered the first cell-based therapy for articular cartilage repair. These studies led to the commercialization of cartilage transplantation for the current surgical treatment of focal cartilage defects in clinical use today—autologous chondrocyte transplantation.
Dr. Grande is the assistant vice president for Research Services as well as the director of Orthopaedic Research at the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research. He also is a full-time professor at the Feinstein Institutes and a professor at the Elmezzi Graduate School of Molecular Medicine and the Zucker School of Medicine.
Dr. Grande graduated from Long Island University with a BS in biology and completed his PhD in anatomy and cell biology at New York University. He completed his post-doctorate in biomechanics at the Hospital for Special Surgery. He began his scientific career at the Hospital for Joint Diseases/Orthopedic Institute studying regenerative medicine and tissue engineering technologies for repair of the musculoskeletal system. In 1990, Dr. Grande established the orthopedic research laboratory at the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research and continues investigating novel regenerative therapies including stem cells, growth factors, biomaterials and 3D bioprinting.
He is the author of 123 peer-reviewed publications and seven book chapters. He has been awarded nine patents and helped found two companies in the orthopedic surgery field of use. Dr. Grande serves on many committees within the United States and internationally. He regularly serves on committees doing grant reviews and regularly serves on NIH study sections for R01, R21 and SBIR/STTR grants. He is on the editorial board of the journals Cartilage and Osteoarthritis and Cartilage.
Dr. Elliott Hershman is a noted Orthopaedic Surgeon who specializes in Sports Medicine, particularly focusing on knee injuries such as Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) tears, meniscus issues and patellofemoral disorders. His surgical expertise includes advanced arthroscopic surgery techniques for ACL injuries, patella instability, articular cartilage disorders and meniscus tears.
As part of his Sports Medicine activities, he is the Team Orthopaedic Surgeon for the NY Jets and has served in the same role for the NY Islanders and the Hunter College Athletic Program.
Dr. Hershman is committed to advancing the care of athletes through research and is a member of the internationally recognized MARS (Multicenter ACL Revision Surgery) group of researchers, studying and publishing the outcomes of ACL revision surgery, and in particular the nature of recurrent ACL issues.
He is the James A. Nicholas Chairman of Orthopaedic Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital and is the Vice-President for the Western Region of the Orthopaedic Service Line for Northwell Health. In addition he is an Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.
Dr. Hershman has been recognized annually in America s Top Doctors since 2004 and has been a NY Magazine Top Doctor since 2002. He has been listed in the NY Times Super Doctors for the past 10 years.
With his colleagues in the MARS group of researchers, Dr. Hershman received the O Donoghue Sports Injury Research award from the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine for the paper entitled Revision Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction Graft Choice Impact on Outcome in the MARS Cohort .
Brian received his BA in Physical Therapy from SUNY Stony Brook in 1997 and his Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions in 2010. Brian specializes in spine rehabilitation and orthopaedics. He is certified in the McKenzie Method (Cert. MDT) for the diagnosis and treatment of spinal disorders. Additionally, he is also a Certified Orthopaedic Manual Therapist (COMT) through Maitland Australian Physiotherapy Seminars and Board Certified as an Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. Brian has been appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine. Meagan is the Supervisor for the STARS- ATC program. She graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Delaware in 2011 and a Master’s of Science in Sports Medicine from the University of Utah in 2013. Ms. Maguire worked in the colligate setting for a number of years before coming to Northwell to help oversee the ATC program.

I am sports medicine fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in complex arthroscopic repair and reconstruction of the shoulder, hip, knee and ankle joints’ ligaments, tendons, labrum, menisci and cartilage. Beyond my focus on arthroscopic surgery, I also have extensive experience in complex fracture surgery of both the upper and lower extremities. I believe in educating patients about their injury and discussing the available treatment options to help individualize each patient’s care and treatment to their specific needs and expectations. A clear focus on the patient’s ultimate goal helps me guide their care in the best fashion possible. Outside of the medical world I am an avid cyclist, having ridden up and over some of the highest mountain peaks and passes in Europe, travelling the world exploring new sights and cuisines. In my free time I am an experienced cook and am currently focused on expanding my use of a sous vide cooker and baking bread.
Dr. Victor Olujimi is a board-certified Orthopaedic Surgeon who completed an orthopaedic sports medicine fellowship at Boston University. He participated in the care and treatment of the Boston University athletics department with close involvement with their lacrosse and hockey teams. Dr. Olujimi went on to complete an additional orthopaedic fellowship in Shoulder and Elbow at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.
He is a graduate of Sacred Heart University and received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Chicago Medical School. He then went on to complete his orthopaedic surgery residency at Stony Brook University Hospital. He is a native New Yorker, born and raised in the Bronx. He is board certified in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine, specializing in the care of athletes and disorders of the shoulder, elbow and knee.
Robert A. Panariello MS, PT, ATC, CSCS is a Founding Partner and Chief Clinical Officer at Professional Physical Therapy with more than 200 facilities in 5 states as well as the 20,000 square foot state of the art Professional Athletic Performance Center located in Garden City, New York. He is a former NCAA Division I Collegiate, Professional Football, and Professional Soccer Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. He has studied the science and performance enhancement training of national sport athletes and weightlifters in Bulgaria, the former Soviet Union and former East Germany. Rob was the recipient of the 2016 National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Sports Medicine/Rehabilitation Specialist of the Year Award, the 2015 American Academy of Sports Physical Therapy (AASPT) Lynn Wallace Clinical Educator Award, was elected to the inaugural class of the USA Strength and Conditioning Coaches Hall of Fame in 2003, and received the prestigious NSCA President’s Award in 1998. Dr. Kevin D. Plancher, MD, MPH is a Clinical Professor of Orthopaedics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and an Assistant Adjunct Clinical Professor at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York. He is the Fellowship Director and DIO for an ACGME-accredited sports medicine fellowship. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in chemistry and biochemistry from Trinity College in Hartford, CT. He then went on to earn his Master’s in Science in Physiology and Doctorate in Medicine from Georgetown University in Washington, DC. Dr. Plancher completed his residency at Harvard University’s Combined Orthopaedic program. He then went on to complete two post-graduate fellowships, one in hand and microvascular surgery (The Indiana Hand Center) and the other in sports medicine and reconstruction of the shoulder and knee (The Steadman Hawkins Clinic). Most recently, he completed his MPH at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. He is honored to serve on the AAOS Board of Directors with his appointment in March 2021 as BOS Chair.

Alex received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Scranton in 2013. Alex is a full body certified provider of the Active Release Technique (ART). Additionally, Alex is level 2 medical and certified through the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) to provide functional golf swing assessments and treat golf specific injuries. Alex’s clinical focus lies in sports and orthopedic rehabilitation, return to play and golf specific rehabilitation.
An expert in sports medicine, Etan P. Sugarman, MD specializes in the treatment of athletes of all abilities, from high school to professional players to weekend warriors. He has a particular interest in shoulder, hip and knee joint preservation including shoulder instability, hip arthroscopy, and complex knee restoration. After completing his training in orthopaedic surgery, Etan spent an additional year at the world renown Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic where he helped take care of the Los Angeles Rams, Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Sparks, USC football, MLS soccer, Fullerton College and Carson High School football programs.
An avid surfer, skier, violinist and former competitive basketball player, Dr. Sugarman understands that each athlete is different, and a successful return to sport requires consideration not only of the injury but of the entire athlete – the risk factors that predispose them to recurrence, as well as their specific timeline and goals. A devoted researcher, Dr. Sugarman was inducted into the prestigious American Orthopaedic Association Emerging Leaders program. With more than 100 publications and presentations, and multiple best author awards, Dr. Sugarman is dedicated to providing the most up to date and best proven treatment methods for his patients.
Joe has owned and directed practices in Outpatient Orthopedic Physical Therapy for 33 years. In 2018 he partnered with Ivy Rehab, cultivating growth from 4 to 11 sites on Long Island. He Chairs the Ivy Direct Access Committee, serves on the working group for and as a Mentor in Ivy Orthopedic Residency Program and the Center of Excellence Program. He has worked with Northwell Physicians to publish research articles on injury patterns in professional soccer athletes.
He mentors in Ivy’s Coaching for Performance and LEAD Programs. He has served on Advisory Board for Rehabilitation Networks, has started and runs his own 501c3 Charitable Organization serving underprivileged kids in the Dominican Republic.

Jonathan B. Ticker, MD, is in private practice on Long Island, New York, with the Orlin & Cohen Orthopaedic Group. His clinical and operative practice is exclusive to the shoulder. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University, New York. Dr. Ticker was the inaugural Chair of the Board of Trustees of the American Shoulder & Elbow Surgeons (ASES) Foundation, and is a past member of the Executive Committee of ASES. He has been Co-Chair of the Industry and Program Committees for ASES. He was Chair of the Research Committee and Chair of the Communications & Technology Committee for the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA). His academic endeavors have included research on the shoulder in basic science and clinical subjects. These interests have resulted in numerous peer-reviewed journal publications, as well as book chapters. In addition, Dr. Ticker has co-edited three shoulder texts: An Atlas of Shoulder Surgery and An Atlas of Shoulder Arthroscopy along with Freddie Fu and Andreas Imhoff; and An Atlas of Advanced Shoulder Arthroscopy with Andreas Imhoff, Augustus Mazzocca, and Andreas Voss. He has an interest in the history of his field and edited American Shoulder & Elbow Surgeons 25th Anniversary, a book devoted to the history of this Society. In May 2022, a fifth book AANA@40: Advancements in Education on the 40th Anniversary of AANA regarding its history, which Dr. Ticker served as lead editor, will be published. Dr. Trasolini is an Orthopaedic Surgeon and Sports Medicine Specialist with a clinical focus on arthroscopic treatment of the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee and ankle. Dr. Trasolini specializes in complex ligament reconstruction of the knee, including but not limited to, anterior cruciate reconstruction, posterior cruciate reconstruction and collateral ligament reconstruction. Dr. Trasolini also has a special interest in the shoulder, including arthroscopic surgery, open procedures and shoulder replacement.
Dr. Trasolini graduated from Colgate University, where he was a four-year starter on the men s lacrosse team, earning All Patriot-league and All-America honors After college, he had the opportunity to play lacrosse professionally and spent three years playing Major League Lacrosse for the Chicago Machine, Rochester Rattlers, and the NY Lizards.
Dr. Trasolini attended Touro College of Osteopathic medicine, where he ranked in the top 10% of his class and was inducted into the Sigma Phi Honors Medical Society. He then completed his residency in the Northwell Health system at Plainview Hospital, where he was recognized for his leadership and clinical teaching, as evident by his receipt of the Resident of the Year Award in 2017. Dr. Trasolini then had the opportunity to train in Boston as a Sports and Shoulder Fellow at New England Baptist Hospital. During his fellowship he served as the assistant team physician for Harvard Athletics, the Boston Celtics, the Boston Cannons, Merrimack College, Tufts Athletics and numerous high schools in the surrounding area. He also spent time at Boston Children s Hospital, learning pediatric sports medicine from renowned experts, Dr. Min Kocher and Dr. Lyle Micheli.
Dr. Trasolini is looking forward to serving the local communities of Suffolk County and believes that his lifelong dedication to sports and personal experience as an athlete provides him with unique insight to meet the needs of his patients.
Daniel has over 20 years experience as a physical therapist, graduating with his masters of arts in physical therapy from Touro College in 1994.
Daniel is certified (Cert. MDT) in the McKenzie Method for the diagnosis and treatment of spinal disorders. His clinical experience is also in the areas of orthopaedics, sports rehabilitation, trauma, and lower extremity amputees. Additionally, Daniel is trained and TPI Certified through the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI).
Daniel founded the Rehabilitation Lecture Series offered through the Northwell Health Rehabilitation Network. This program runs system-wide and provides clinical education to Northwell Health Physician Partners and non-system rehabilitation professionals.
Daniel has presented at regional conferences on evidence based rehabilitation protocols for the spine and the knee. He has also given presentations to the LIJ Residency Program and to the community on the treatment of spine, sports and orthopaedic injuries.
A specialist in sports medicine and physical medicine and rehabilitation, Amy West, MD, EdM, FAAPMR is a graduate of Harvard Medical School, completed her residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Harvard-Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital and her fellowship in Sports Medicine at Maine Medical Center.
Dr. West focuses include non-operative sports medicine, musculoskeletal ultrasound, peripheral joint injections, electromyography (EMG), and concussion management. Her clinical and research interests include the female athlete, adaptive sports, lifestyle medicine, transgender athletes and nutrition. She is active in the CrossFit community, serving on the CrossFit Games Medical Team and participating in various Crossfit functions and outreach events. Dr. West has been featured on multiple podcasts and has authored peer-reviewed video and written publications.

Dr. Michael Zacchilli is a board-certified, fellowship-trained Orthopedic Sports Medicine surgeon with offices in Manhattan and Staten Island. He graduated with honors from Harvard University and the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He completed his residency with the United States Army, where he served as chief resident and was voted the distinguished graduate of his class. Following residency he was stationed at Fort Bragg, where he cared for Airborne and Special Operations soldiers, completed three deployments, and was selected for assignment with the Joint Special Operations Command. After completing his military service, he completed a fellowship at the NYU-Langone Hospital for Joint Diseases.
A specialist in Orthopedic Surgery and sportsmedicine Ken Zaslav had been in practice for 30 years in Richmond Virginia. He was the founding member of the Sports Medicine Center and Cartilage Repair Center at Advanced Orthopedics,(Now Ortho Virginia) and a Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia Dept. of Orthopedic Surgery. In 2020 he joined the full time faculty practice at Lenox Hill Hospital Dept of Orthopedic Surgery as the Director of their Center for Regenerative Orthopedic Medicine.
His focus has been on shoulder and knee surgery and well as injuries to athletes and dancers for his entire practice. He has written extensively both on shoulder injuries and sports medicine topics. Most recently over the past decade his research interest has been in cartilage repair and Joint Preservation and now he is involved in Orthobiologic and Stem cell research. He performed the first Cartilage transplant in Virginia in 1996 and is the Past President of the International Cartilage Regeneration and Joint Preservation Society, a society of clinicians and scientists based in Zurich Sw, devoted to clinical and basic science research to preserve joints and function in patients with cartilage injury and early arthritis. Dr. Zaslav is currently a founding member and The Secretary General of the Biologic Association based in the US.
