Dr. Gholami is an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Surgical Oncology at Northwell Health. She also serves as the Surgical Director of the Liver Multidisciplinary Clinic, Director of the Hepatic Artery Infusion Pump Program, and Director for Translational Research in Surgical Oncology at Northwell Health with a joint appointment at Coldspring Harbor Laboratory. Dr. Gholami is a board-certified surgical oncologist and surgeon-scientist with an interest in translational research focusing on the role of the tumor microenvironment in hepatobiliary malignancies. Her research laboratory at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory explores mechanisms of immune resistance in liver metastases to develop novel immune augmenting therapies and practice-changing clinical trials to improve patient outcomes with colorectal cancer liver metastases.
Dr. Fong is the Chairman of Surgery at City of Hope Medical Center, renowned for his pioneering work in liver and pancreatic surgery, particularly laparoscopic, robotic, and ablative therapies. He demonstrated that liver resection could be curative for stage IV colorectal liver metastases, earning the Layton F. Rikkers Master Clinician Award. Dr. Fong’s research in biologic bench investigation includes discovering tumor necrosis factor and advancing gene therapy using genetically modified viruses for cancer treatment. He has authored over 1,000 articles and 20 textbooks, with 94,000 citations, and has served as the founding Editor-in-Chief of Molecular Therapy Oncolytics. Dr. Fong has received numerous prestigious awards and holds memberships in the American Society of Clinical Investigation and the National Academy of Medicine.
Dr. DePeralta is a surgical oncologist/ hepatopancreatobiliary surgeon. She completed her residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital and dual fellowship training in complex general surgical oncology (Moffitt Cancer Center) and hepatopancreatobiliary surgery (Indiana University.) She grew up on Long Island and joined the team at Northwell in 2019. She serves as the surgical director of the pancreas multidisciplinary program, the program director of the complex general surgical oncology fellowship, and associate program director of the general surgery residency.
Dr. Grimaldi is a diagnostic radiologist who currently serves as the Director of Oncologic Imaging at the Northwell Health Cancer Institute and Chief of Body Imaging at North Shore University Hospital. He specializes in hepatobiliary and pancreatic imaging and serves as the lead radiologist for the Northwell Health Hepatobiliary Multidisciplinary Tumor Board. Dr. Grimaldi is focused on improving patient management through standardization of radiology exam performance, reporting and subspecialty consultation.
Dr. Htut is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. He practices in Queens, Brooklyn, and Manhasset. Dr. Htut graduated from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 2010 and completed his Internal Medicine residency and Transplant Hepatology Fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center. He also completed a Gastroenterology Fellowship at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. Before joining Northwell, he was the Chief of Hepatology at Montefiore New Rochelle.
Dr. Levy is the Medical Director of Hepatobiliary Malignancies and the Hepatic Artery Pump Infusion Program at the R.J. Zuckerberg Cancer Center. She is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Medical Oncology and serves as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. Dr. Levy earned her medical degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, completed her Internal Medicine training at Christiana Care Health System, and her fellowship in Medical Oncology and Hematology at Long Island Jewish Medical Center.
Dr. Massoumi is a transplant hepatologist and Associate Professor of Medicine. He graduated from Iran University of Medical Sciences and completed his residency and Gastroenterology fellowship at Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center/New York Medical College, now Montefiore Wakefield Division. After a Transplant Hepatology fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center, he joined Montefiore Medical Center in 2007, contributing to the launch of the Montefiore Liver Transplant Program. After 15 years at Montefiore, he became the Clinical Director of the Center for Liver Disease and Transplantation at Lenox Hill. His main interests are in treating critically ill liver disease patients and immune-mediated liver diseases, focusing on minority populations.
Dr. Satapathy is a Professor of Medicine at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra University and serves as the Medical Director of Liver Transplantation at Northwell Health Center for Liver Diseases & Transplantation. He specializes in gastroenterology and hepatology, focusing on NAFLD, hepatitis C, post- transplant outcomes, NASH-related complications, and sarcopenia. Dr. Satapathy has published over 180 peer-reviewed articles, holds an h-Index of 41, and has received over 7500 citations. He is triple board-certified in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, and Transplant Hepatology, with additional qualifications in Epidemiology and Clinical Investigation. Dr. Satapathy is also Editor in Chief for Translational Gastroenterology and Hepatology and has been recognized as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor and a finalist for the Truly Rising Star Award.
Dr. Talcott is a Radiation Oncologist at Northwell Health, serving as the GI radiation oncology lead at Lenox Hill Hospital. He completed his training at Yale and joined Northwell as faculty in 2022. Dr. Talcott is a member of the ASTRO Multi-Disciplinary Quality and Safety Committee and chairs the Northwell Radiation Oncology Adaptive Radiotherapy Committee.
Dr. Vitiello graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor’s degree in Nutritional Sciences. After Cornell, he enrolled at Emory University School of Medicine where he earned his medical degree in Medicine and Surgery. He completed a General Surgery Residency at NYU Langone Medical Center in New York, NY as well as a 2-year research fellowship in immunology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. After residency, he completed a 2-year clinical fellowship in Complex General Surgical Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. As one of the recipients of the 2019 AASLD Emerging Liver Scholar awards, Dr. Vitiello specializes in treating cancers of the liver, bile duct, gallbladder, and pancreas. He is an active member of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), the Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO), and the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (AHPBA).
Dr. Weinstein is an Assistant Professor of Radiology at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. He did residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals in Philadelphia and fellowship at Northwestern in Chicago. His clinical and research interests including liver directed therapies and portal hypertension.
Tanya C. Louis, MS, RN, is a Registered Nurse Specialist at Northwell Health, where she coordinates the Liver Multidisciplinary Cancer and Hepatic Artery Infusion Pump programs. She acts as the initial point of contact for new patients, providing preliminary education and coordinating consultations. Previously, Ms. Louis served as a Nurse Educator at Northwell Health, developing and implementing a system-wide hepatitis C screening initiative. Her extensive clinical background includes experience as a Clinical Nurse Educator and Charge Nurse at St. Francis Hospital, where she provided specialized care for diverse patient populations. Ms. Louis holds a Master of Science degree in Nursing, specializing as a Family Nurse Practitioner, from C.W. POST, New York Institute of Technology.
Dr. Elliot Newman is the Chief of Surgical Oncology at Lenox Hill Hospital, renowned for his expertise in gastrointestinal cancers, particularly pancreatic and hepatobiliary cancers. Dr. Shah is an experienced diagnostic radiologist and the Medical Director of the Northwell Imaging Center at Syosset. She is fellowship-trained at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in body and breast radiology, with a focus on oncologic imaging. Dr. Shah specializes in hepatobiliary and pancreatic imaging, presents at both multidisciplinary tumor boards and has a focus on quality improvement for the body division.
