Dr. Nicholas Sgaglione is Professor and Chair of the Northwell Health System Department of Orthopedic Surgery and at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra / Northwell. He also serves as the Senior Vice President for Orthopaedics for the Northwell Health System and Executive Director of the Northwell Orthopaedic Institute in New York.

Dr. Nicholas Sgaglione has been in clinical practice for 31 years in Great Neck, New York. He graduated from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York followed by a fellowship in sports medicine at the Southern California Orthopaedic Institute in Los Angeles.

Dr. Sgaglione was elected as president of the Arthroscopy Association of North America for 2012- 2013 and served on its Board of Directors beginning in 2008. Dr. Sgaglione was elected by his peers to the American Orthopaedic Association in 2006, a prestigious national society for leadership, education and research. He serves on the Arthroscopy Association of North America Education Foundation and is the current chair of that Foundation. He has also served as the New York State delegate for the American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine. He is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine, International Cartilage Regeneration and Joint Preservation Society, International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine and the New York Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Dr. Sgaglione has served on the Board of Trustees of the Arthroscopy Journal and is the current Chairman of the Journal Board of Trustees. He is on the editorial board of several medical journals and is the editor of three orthopaedic textbooks and more than 100 published articles and book chapters on knee, shoulder, ankle and cartilage surgery. He has given more than 1000 invited lectures and presentations in his career. Dr. Sgaglione specializes in sports medicine is the Medical Director for Hofstra University Athletics. He has served as the team orthopaedist for numerous Long Island High Schools as well as the team physician for the United States Merchant Marine Academy for the past 31 years. Dr. Sgaglione is an honorary police surgeon for the NYPD. He has served as an orthopaedic consultant to the United States Ski Team and the US Professional Golf Association. Dr. Sgaglione is also the team orthopedist and the medical director for the Major League Lacrosse, New York Lizards.

Dr. Sgaglione is listed and recognized in Best Doctors of New York and Best Doctors of American since 2007.

Dr. Amaral joined Northwell Health in 2014 and is Co-Chief of Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery at Cohen Children’s Medical Center. He received his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College Medicine of Yeshiva University.  He then completed his residency training in Orthopaedic Surgery at Montefiore Medical Center. After completing a fellowship in Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery, Dr. Amaral joined the Montefiore Orthopedic faculty. He served as Chief of Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery and fellowship Director of Pediatric Orthopaedics at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore until 2014.

Dr. Amaral is an active member of many national orthopedic societies which include the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America, Scoliosis Research Society, American Academy of Pediatrics, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and has served on multiple committees for these as esteemed organizations. He has presented his work at national and international meetings and has been nominated or received multiple best paper honors.

His practice focuses on complex limb deformity and limb reconstruction which includes computer-guided external fixation systems and magnetically control limb lengthening systems, complex spinal deformity which includes scoliosis, infantile spinal deformity, and spondylolysthesis, and joint preservation surgery which includes hip arthroscopy and pelvic/hip osteotomies.

Dr. Daniel Brandenstein, graduated Medical in 2002 from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Upon graduating he completed an orthopedic surgery residency at Michigan State University and a spinal surgery fellowship at the University of Rochester. He joined the Northwell Health Physician Partners Department of Orthopedic Surgery in 2008. Since that time he has functioned as the Director of Orthopedic Spine Surgery at South Shore University Hospital.

He has completed numerous lectures and presentations on spinal surgery both locally and nationally. Special interests within spinal surgery include adult degenerative and spinal conditions related to patients with cancer. Additional interests include surfing, diving, offshore fishing and spending time with his family.

Melanie is a licensed physical therapist for over 15 years. She received her doctorate in physical therapy from Temple University and her masters of science in physical therapy from Quinnipiac University.

Melanie’s main clinical focus has been in the area of pediatric rehabilitation. She treats pediatric orthopedic, neurological and congenital diagnoses.

Melanie is a certified Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) and assists patients in attaining adaptive equipment. She is also certified in Neuro-developmental Treatment (C/NDT) along with being a member of the Neuro-developmental Treatment Association (NDTA). She is also a certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner.

In addition, Melanie has given numerous professional presentations and has been published in Pediatric Physical Therapy, Gait and Posture and the Journal of American Podiatric Medical Association.

Dr. Cohn is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist with a clinical focus on arthroscopic treatment of the knee, shoulder, hip, ankle, and elbow. Dr. Cohn also specializes in anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, hip labral injury and impingement, and shoulder arthroscopy and shoulder replacement surgery.

After graduating from Mount Sinai School of Medicine with distinction in research, Dr. Cohn performed his orthopaedic surgery residency at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases where he was recognized for his leadership and clinical teaching. He completed his sports medicine fellowship training at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. As a fellow in sports medicine and shoulder surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital, Dr. Cohn served as an assistant team physician for the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, New England Revolution, and numerous colleges and high schools, gaining experience in treating athletes at all levels.

Currently, Dr. Cohn is the team orthopaedic surgeon for Hofstra University and several Long Island high schools. He also serves as the director of Northwell Health s Dance Medicine and Performing Arts Program, Young Adult Hip Preservation Program, and as the medical director of the Hofstra University Athletic Training Program. Dr. Cohn’s academic titles include Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Zucker School of Medicine and the Associate Program Director of the Northwell Health Plainview Hospital Orthopaedic Residency Program.

Dr. Cohn’s research interests include clinical outcomes of sports medicine procedures including arthroscopic surgery and ligament reconstruction. He has published in numerous peer-reviewed orthopaedic journals on topics including shoulder instability, shoulder injuries in throwing athletes, groin injuries, hip arthroscopy, patella (knee cap) dislocation, anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus tears, knee replacement surgery, and sideline management of athletic injuries.

Having grown up in Valley Stream, New York, Dr. Cohn is excited to return home to practice at the Northwell Health Orthopaedic Institute and Long Island Jewish Valley Stream.

Dr. Czoch is an attending physician and Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at The Zucker School of Medicine. He completed his residency and fellowship training at the University of Virginia School of Medicine and the AI Dupont Hospital for Children.

He joined the faculty at Northwell Health 2.5 years ago and focuses on all aspects of pediatric musculoskeletal health and development including complex trauma and limb/spine deformity.

Jonathan R. Danoff, MD is a board-certified, fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement surgery. He is skilled in minimally invasive surgery, as well as advanced techniques in direct anterior total hip replacement, partial and total knee replacement, and managing complications of failed or painful hip and knee replacements. Should an operation be indicated, Dr. Danoff may employ some of the latest and most advanced techniques in computer navigation and/or robotic surgery to restore joint mobility while striving to seek the best outcome for patients. Dr. Danoff has a research interest in rapid recovery protocols and multimodal pain regimens to decrease postoperative pain.

A native of Long Island, Dr. Danoff graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Engineering and Applied Sciences with a degree in biomedical engineering. He received his doctor of medicine degree from Penn State College of Medicine and completed his orthopedic residency at Columbia University in New York City. He also completed the Harrison L. McLaughlin Fellowship in Orthopaedic Trauma Research at the Trauma Training Center at Columbia University Medical Center as part of a combined residency/research training program. Dr. Danoff completed his fellowship in adult reconstructive surgery at the renowned Rothman Institute in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Danoff is a widely published physician-scientist, who is a dedicated educator and clinician. He holds a US patent for a novel orthopedic hip implant and has a passion for orthopedic research having published over 75 scientific articles, book chapters, editorials, and surgical instructional videos on a range of orthopedic topics and he has edited a textbook on the diagnosis and management of periprosthetic joint infections. Dr. Danoff has been an invited presenter on a variety of topics in orthopedic surgery at local, national, and international orthopedic meetings. He has earned multiple accolades for his academic accomplishments including being honored with the Frank E. Stinchfield, M.D. Award for Excellence in Orthopedic Surgery for his research contributions. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the American Academy of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS).

Dr. Jon-Paul DiMauro is a native of upstate New York State – growing up in Rockland County.  He attended Cornell University and majored in Biology with a focus in Neurobiology.  Following graduation from Cornell, Dr. DiMauro worked in a laboratory in the Department of Neurobiology and Neuroscience at the Joan and Sanford I. Weill Cornell Medical College, studying neurodegenerative disorders.

He later went on to attend the Georgetown University School of Medicine and came back to New York City for post-graduate training in Orthopaedic Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital, a member of the North Shore-LIJ Health System.  Following residency training, he completed a fellowship in Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital – Harvard Medical School.  He currently holds the title of Assistant Professor at the Hofstra NSLIJ- School of Medicine and is an attending surgeon in Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery at Cohen Children’s Medical Center.

Dr. DiMauro is active in teaching and works with orthopaedic residents from Lenox Hill Hospital, Northwell-LIJ, and the Northwell-Plainview Combined Orthopaedic Programs.  While he sees a wide array of pediatric orthopaedic disorders, including trauma, lower extremity limb deformity, foot and ankle, spine/scoliosis, neuromuscular conditions, he has special interests in pediatric and adolescent sports medicine.  Other special interests include congenital and developmental hip disorders, and hip preservation surgery.

Roger is a licensed Physical Therapist and Certified Athletic Trainer with over 25 years experience. He received his Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy from Long Island University and his Athletic Trainer Certification from Springfield College. Roger is trained and TPI certified through the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) and holds a K-Vest level 1 3D motion analysis certification. Roger’s clinical focus lies in orthopedics rehabilitation, sports therapy and golf rehabilitation. He currently is the Team Physical Therapist for Hofstra University and manages 5 of our outpatient Physical Therapy clinics.

James A. Germano, M.D., is a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedist who subspecializes in total hip and knee replacement, with a special interest in revision arthroplasty. One of Long Island’s only hip arthroscopy surgeons, he joined Orlin & Cohen in 2008.

Dr. Germano has co-published and presented papers on various leading-edge techniques related to hip replacement and fracture repair. He is skilled in minimally invasive and computer-assisted surgery, as well as alternative bearing surgery.

As Director of Orthopedic Trauma, Dr. Goldman oversees all aspects of fracture care in the orthopedic department. Dr. Goldman also functions as the Orthopedic Trauma Director to the Trauma Committees at NSUH and CCMC and current Orthopedic Director of the Geriatric/Orthopedic Co-management Program (GOCo) at Long Island Jewish Hospital, LIJ Valley Stream, LIJ Forrest Hills and Huntington Hospital. Outside of his current duties at Northwell, he is the only orthopedist to currently sit on the NY State Trauma Advisory Committee.

Along with his clinical practice, administrative, and quality improvement duties, Dr. Goldman is responsible for the direction of residents and medical students in orthpedic trauma education and research. His publications and international meeting presentations include research on fracture and fracture implant biomechanics, pelvis and acetabulum trauma and geriatric fractures. He has received a prestigious Orthopedic Research Society grant for his work on compartment syndrome.

Dr. Goldman’s MD was obtained from New York Medical College in 2002. He did his residency in orthopedics at SUNY Downstate and a fellowship at Hospital for Special Surgery in Orthopedic Trauma. Prior to his arrival at Northwell, Dr. Goldman was Director of Orthopedic Trauma at Kings County and Downstate Medical Centers. Dr. Goldman has won “Teacher of the Year” award four times from his graduating residents.

I am the full-time athletic trainer at North Shore HS in Glen Head NY.  I have been working at my current school for 5.5 years and have been working in the high school setting for almost 8 years in total.  I received my undergraduate degree in athletic training from Salisbury University, Maryland in 2013 & my masters in exercise physiology from West Chester University, Pennsylvania in 2015.

I also held my CSCS for several years and continue to work as a fitness & life coach at Core Fitness Studios in Glen Cove.  North Shore HS has been a tier 1 safe sports school since my arrival in 2015 and still holds this title through the National Athletic Training Association.

Andrew Goodwillie, M.D specializes in Sports Medicine and has practiced orthopaedic surgery in the Great Neck area since 2012. He holds the academic title of Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.

Dr. Goodwillie earned his medical degree from New York University after completing his undergraduate degree at Yale University. He then completed an orthopedic surgery residency at UMDNJ Robert Wood Johnson, followed by a Sports Medicine fellowship at Lenox Hill Hospital where he was an integral part of the medical staff for the New York Jets (NFL) and New York Islanders (NHL).

Dr. Goodwillie is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who addresses a wide range of athletic injuries with detailed assessment and care; including acute tendon and ligament injuries, chronic tendon and overuse injuries, sprains/strains, fractures, and any other sports injuries. Dr. Eric L Grossman received his education and training at Syracuse University Newhouse School of Communications, Columbia University, Jefferson Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University and the world–renowned Rothman Orthopaedic Institute. As Director of Total Joint Arthroplasty at The Rothman Orthopaedic Institute – New York, he has published research in the field of total joint arthroplasty, and performed approximately 5000 total joint replacements.

Dr. Grossman has stayed true to the teachings of his mentors, with a mission to provide cutting-edge total joint care to his patients, while continuing to innovate in total hip and total knee replacement surgery. Michael specializes in spine rehabilitation, scoliosis and general orthopaedics. He has earned his Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (Cert. MDT) certification in the McKenzie Method for the diagnosis and treatment of spinal dysfunctions. Michael is also certified in Schroth based 3 Dimensional Scoliosis Specific Exercises C2 Certification by BSPTS for the evaluation and treatment of adolescent scoliosis, specializing in curve specific exercises for the possible halting of curve progression in collaboration with physician, orthotist, patient and family.

Garrett R. Leonard, MD is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in spine surgery. He completed a combined neurosurgical and orthopedic spine fellowship at Harvard Medical School. This unique training provides him the insights of both specialties in addressing complex spinal disorders.

Dr. Leonard has experience in treating the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. His interests include minimally invasive surgery, spinal fusion, disc replacement, revision surgery, disc herniation, stenosis, microsurgery and spinal deformity. Dr. Lipetz received his specialized and interventional spine medicine training during a fellowship year at the internationally recognized Penn Spine Center of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. After receiving his medical degree with Alpha Omega Alpha honors from Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons, Dr. Lipetz completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the prestigious Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He was elected and served as Academic Chief Resident during his senior year of residency. Dr. Lipetz received his bachelors degree in biology with summa cum laude honors through the Presidential Honors Program of the State University of New York at Buffalo.

Dr. Lipetz has authored over thirty original articles and abstracts in peer reviewed journals and several textbook chapters, including chapters within the leading texts in both the Interventional Spine Care and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation literature. He has served as a representative to national medical organizations since his residency years, including Chair of the Education Committee of the Physiatric Association of Spine, Sports, and Occupational Rehabilitation (PASSOR). Dr. Lipetz has most recently served as a member of the research committee of the International Spine Intervention Society. Dr. Lipetz is a reviewer for three leading peer reviewed journals within his specialty. He served as the Residency Training Program Director for the Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Long Island Jewish Medical Center from 2003 to 2005, and he is an Assistant Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine at Hofstra University School of Medicine. Dr. Thomas Mauri serves as Vice Chair of Orthopaedic Surgery for both North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center, as well as Vice President of the Orthopaedic Service Line for the North Shore-LIJ Health System. He has been intimately involved in the North Shore University Hospital Medical Staff Society for many years, serving as President in 2002-2003. He was appointed as a trustee of the NSLIJ Health System and served in that role from 2004 until 2007 until he was made Associate Chair of Orthopaedic Surgery for North Shore and LIJ that year. He has been Chief of Orthopaedic Spine Surgery at North Shore University Hospital since 1999.

Dr. Mauri graduated with a BS/MD degree from the 6 year combined biomedical program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute/Albany Medical College in 1980, then trained 1 year each at North Shore University Hospital in general surgery and neurosurgery,  before entering orthopaedic residency at the Hospital for Special Surgery, finishing in 1985. He went on to Spine Surgery fellowship at the prestigious Rancho Los Amigos Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, then entered private practice as an attending spine surgeon at North Shore in 1986. Dr. Mauri has been co-chair of the Peri-operative Committee at North Shore for over 10 years and has served on the Medical Board for many years as well. He is an active member of the Health System Committee on Quality and Surgical PICG.

Nationally, Dr. Mauri has been a long-standing member of the North American Spine Society, where he serves as Co-Chair for the Patient Safety Committee. He has also participated in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Patient Safety Ad Hoc council. He has made podium presentations at the Scoliosis Research Society and the International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine. He is an Assistant Professor at the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine and was a founding member of the Admissions Committee, and continues to serve as an extended interviewer for the medical school.

In my career, I have performed more than 10,000 joint replacements, and receive consults from around the globe for managing complex orthopaedic patients. For me, healthcare is a full team approach, and the patient is at the center of that team. I want my patients to be well informed. My team and I are highly accessible – every patient I have helped throughout my entire career has my cell phone. Although I am a surgeon, I firmly believe in educating every patient regarding their unique disease process and exhausting all non-operative treatment options before recommending surgery. This participation has been fundamental in my success as a surgeon. As much as I love orthopaedics, medicine, and research, my true devotion is to my wife, Rhonda, and our four children. One of my hobbies is conchology (the study of seashells). I am President of the Molluscan Science Foundation, a venture dedicated to protecting and preserving our rapidly deteriorating coral reef system. Together, my wife and I enjoy collecting Art deco powder compacts and antique perfume bottles. We travel to various annual tradeshows and enjoy learning about these rare collector s items.

A sports medicine fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon, Timothy J. Mulry, DO is focused on treating injuries of the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee and ankle. He specializes in anterior cruciate ligament surgery and complex ligament reconstruction of the knee. Dr. Mulry has a special interest in the shoulder including both arthroscopic and open treatment of shoulder instability, rotator cuff repair, as well as anatomic and reverse total shoulder arthroplasty. Dr. Michael Nett serves as Chair of Orthopedic Surgery for South Shore University Hospital. He has been with the Northwell Health System since he started his fellowship in Adult Reconstruction in 2008. He was the Coordinator for Quality and Clinical Arthroplasty at Southside Hospital before becoming the Assistant Chair in 2017. He was the recipient of the Department Award for Outstanding Physician in 2017 before becoming Chair in 2019. He was nominated for the Truly Award in 2019 and has entered the Physician Leadership Development Program in 2021. His practice focuses on hip and knee arthroplasty and sports medicine of the knee.

Dr. Nett graduated with a BS degree from Fordham University in 1999. In 2003 he graduated from SUNY Downstate Medical School with a distinction in research and as a member of the AOA Honor Society. He then completed his orthopedic residency at The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN in 2008 earning both the Outstanding Resident Awards for clinical and academic achievement. He pursued a fellowship at the prestigious Insall Scott Kelly Institute in Adult Reconstruction and Sport Medicine.  Following his fellowship, he began treating patients at Southside Hospital. He spent one year from 2011-2012 working at St. Francis Hospital of the Catholic Health System, before returning to Southside Hospital.  Dr. Nett now serves on the Medical Board and Provider Leadership Council at South Shore University Hospital.  He is an active member of the Northwell Health System Joint Preservation and Reconstruction Committee.  He sits on the Eastern Region Ambulatory Advisor Committee as a representative of the orthopedic service line. He is a core faculty member of the Lenox Hill Adult Reconstruction Fellowship program.

Nationally, Dr. Nett is an active fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery. He has been a long-standing member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. He has made numerous podium presentations at national meetings regarding hip and knee arthroplasty. He is an Assistant Professor at the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine.

I am sports medicine fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in complex arthroscopic repair and reconstruction of the shoulder, hip, knee and ankle joints’ ligaments, tendons, labrum, menisci and cartilage. Beyond my focus on arthroscopic surgery, I also have extensive experience in complex fracture surgery of both the upper and lower extremities. I believe in educating patients about their injury and discussing the available treatment options to help individualize each patient’s care and treatment to their specific needs and expectations. A clear focus on the patient’s ultimate goal helps me guide their care in the best fashion possible. Outside of the medical world I am an avid cyclist, having ridden up and over some of the highest mountain peaks and passes in Europe, travelling the world exploring new sights and cuisines. In my free time I am an experienced cook and am currently focused on expanding my use of a sous vide cooker and baking bread.

Donald O’Brien, P.T. received his Physical Therapy degree from SUNY at Stony Brook and has 35 years of clinical experience as a Physical Therapist with an emphasis in the area of Orthopedics and Manual Therapy. He was an adjunct clinical instructor at Touro College for more than 15 years where he taught Clinical Biomechanics of the Foot and Ankle, and was an assistant instructor in their Advanced Master’s program that focused on Osteopathic Evaluation and Treatment of the Vertebral Column and Extremities.

He directed Southside Hospital’s National Program in Advanced training in Orthopedics and Manual Therapy and is the Manager of the Outpatient Orthopedic  Physical Therapy Program for STARS at South Shore University Hospital.

Dr. Rokito is the Division Chief of Sports Medicine in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, Northwell Health. He is the physician leader of the Sports Medicine Executive Committee for Northwell Health.  He is also an Assistant Professor at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra Northwell.

Dr. Rokito completed his doctorate at Boston University School of Medicine. He then completed his residency at NYU Langone – Hospital for Joint Diseases, followed by a sports medicine fellowship at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Southern California.   He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery.  He is also Sports Medicine Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons.  He is an active member of the Arthroscopy Association of America (AANA).

Dr. Rokito has been in practice for over 20 years and his philosophy of patient care is “empathic care with expertise.”  His patient population ranges from “little leaguers to professionals” and “adolescents to seniors.”  His clinical interests are acute traumatic, overuse, and degenerative conditions of the shoulder, elbow and knee using nonoperative and state of the art operative treatment, when necessary.   Common shoulder conditions treated include, but are not limited to, instability problems, rotator cuff, and arthritis.  Common elbow conditions treated are tendinopathies and tendon and ligament ruptures.  Common knee conditions treated include meniscus tears, ligament ruptures, articular cartilage injuries and arthritis.

He participates in clinical research and his work has led to publications in peer reviewed journals and multiple presentations at regional, national, and international meetings.  He is a frequent instructor at AANA meetings and teaches the latest techniques to orthopaedic surgeons.

Dr. Rokito has been an associate team orthopaedist for the New York Islanders for the past 10 years, as well as the head team physician for the Long Island Ducks for the past 20 years.  He also oversees the Northwell Health Sports Medicine Program which provides coverage and certified athletic trainers to 13 local high schools.  In addition, Dr. Rokito was most recently the recipient of the 2019 Achievement in Orthopaedics Award at Northwell Health.

Dr. Sarwahi, heads the Center for Minimally Invasive Scoliosis Surgery and the Center for Advanced Pediatric Orthopedics at Cohens Children s Medical Center, which brings together a dedicated team of fellowship-trained Scoliosis surgeons, neurologists, anesthesiologists, hospitalists, nursing staff and others in state of the art treatment of scoliosis. Few centers in the world offer this technique, technology and team approach.

Dr Sarwahi was the Edwin Warner Ryerson Fellow in Pediatric Orthopaedics at Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago. and completed another fellowship in spine deformity at the Hospital for Special Surgery of Cornell University, New York. This extensive training uniquely qualifies him to treat children and adolescents with the expertise of a spine surgeon and the approach of a pediatric orthopaedic surgeon. He is an active member of the Scoliosis Research Society, North American Spine Society and the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery.

Dr Sarwahi has pioneered the minimally invasive scoliosis surgery for idiopathic scoliosis and published the first journal article in the world in the August 2011 issue of Scoliosis and a two-year follow up in the May 2014 issue of the Journal of Spinal Disorders & Techniques. Dr Sarwahi is leading the field again by providing this approach to children with neurological disorders. He is actively involved in basic and clinical science research, and has won numerous national and international awards and nominations. Dr Sarwahi is ranked by Becker s Spine review amongst the 12 spine surgeons performing minimally invasive scoliosis surgery in the country. He has been invited by multiple organizations and has presented his technique at a half day course organized by the Scoliosis Research Society at its 47th Annual meeting. Giles R. Scuderi, MD is Vice President of the Orthopedic Service Line in Northwell Health in New York, Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, Fellowship Director of Adult Knee Reconstruction at Lenox Hill, Director of Surgical Services at Long Island Jewish Valley Stream, and attending orthopedic surgeon at Lenox Hill Hospital and Long Island Jewish Valley Stream. Following his residency at Lenox Hill Hospital, he was the Knee Fellow with Dr. John Insall at the Hospital for Special Surgery. His practice focuses on adult knee reconstruction, primary and revision total knee arthroplasty and sports related knee injuries.

Dr. Scuderi has published extensively in many medical and orthopedic journals and continues to lecture worldwide on surgical reconstruction of the knee and total knee arthroplasty. He has edited several textbooks, including “The Patella”, ‘Sports Medicine: Principles of Primary Care”, “Minimally Invasive Surgery in Orthopedics”, “Techniques in Revision Total Hip and Total Knee Arthroplasty”, “Surgical Techniques in Total Knee Arthroplasty,” and “Rapid Recovery in Total Joint Arthroplasty.” Dr. Scuderi is a past president of the Knee Society and continues an active role in the society. Jeff S. Silber, MD, DC, is a Full-Time Academic Spine Surgeon in the Northwell Health System. He is Associate Chairman and Chief of Orthopaedic Spinal surgery at LIJ. He holds the academic position as Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Hofstra Medical School. He is extremely active in educating orthopedic residents and medical students. He specializes in degenerative spinal surgery in a multi-disciplinary setting.

He has authored over 40 peer-reviewed scientific articles and has written over 20 textbook chapters on spinal related topics. He completed his orthopaedic residency training at the University of Pennsylvania and then a combined orthopaedic and neurosurgical Spine Fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.

Dr. Allison Spitzer is a board-certified pediatric orthopaedic surgeon in New York City who sees patients at Cohen Children’s Medical Center in Manhasset, Phelps Hospital in Westchester and soon at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan.

Dr. Spitzer completed her residency training at King’s County Hospital / SUNY Downstate Medical center, where she was a chief resident.  She was subsequently selected for a pediatric orthopaedic surgery fellowship at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Atlanta Scottish Rite, one of the highest volume centers for scoliosis surgery in the country, which has prepared her to treat scoliosis and spine deformity patients of all backgrounds and etiologies.  One of the highlights of Dr. Spitzer’s time at Atlanta Scottish Rite was participating in a medical mission trip to El Salvador in order to operate on underserved local patients with advanced spine and extremity deformities, utilizing a team-based approach with local orthopaedic surgeons.

Dr. Spitzer treats all pediatric orthopaedic conditions, including but not limited to spine, sports, limb length discrepancy and deformity, hip disorders, tumor, foot and ankle, trauma and neuromuscular conditions such as cerebral palsy.  Dr. Spitzer’s research focuses on orthopaedic resident education, trauma, and scoliosis surgery, and she has written a chapter about multi-specialty clinics for orthopaedic patients with soft tissue and bone sarcomas.  She is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA), and the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society (RJOS), which focuses on supporting and mentoring women in orthopaedics. She serves on national committees for both POSNA and RJOS.

In college, Dr. Spitzer was named an Academic All-American on the Varsity Field Hockey team at Yale University, where she majored in Behavioral Neuroscience while completing her pre-medical studies and serving an elected position on the Yale Senior Class Council.  In medical school at the George Washington University School of Medicine, she provided medical care to patients living in rural parts of Haiti as part of a medical mission with Project Medishare.  Dr. Spitzer is also a certified yoga teacher instructor.  In her free time, Dr. Spitzer enjoys yoga, hiking, snowboarding, and spending time with her friends and family.

An expert in sports medicine, Etan P. Sugarman, MD specializes in the treatment of athletes of all abilities, from high school to professional players to weekend warriors. After completing his training in orthopaedic surgery, Etan spent an additional year at the world renown Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic where he helped take care of the Los Angeles Rams, Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Sparks, USC football, MLS soccer, Fullerton College and Carson High School football programs.

An avid surfer, skier, violinist and former competitive basketball player, Dr. Sugarman understands that each athlete is different, and a successful return to sport requires consideration not only of the injury but of the entire athlete – the risk factors that predispose them to recurrence, as well as their specific timeline and goals. A devoted researcher, Dr. Sugarman was inducted into the prestigious American Orthopaedic Association Emerging Leaders program. With more than 100 publications and presentations, and multiple best author awards, Dr. Sugarman is dedicated to providing the most up to date and best proven treatment methods for his patients.

Dr. Tran is an Assistant Professor of Pediatric Orthopaedics at Cohen Children’s Medical Center. She has a focus in scoliosis, hip, foot and ankle, congenital anomalies, neuromuscular conditions, musculoskeletal infections, and trauma.

Dr. Tran received her undergraduate degree in neuroscience at Brown University in Providence, RI, and her medical degree from Albany Medical College in Albany, NY. She completed her internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery at Albany Medical Center and her fellowship in pediatric orthopaedics at the internationally renowned Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas, TX.

She is a member of Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America. And is actively involved in teaching and mentoring medical students and residents.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family, cooking, baking, and dancing. She volunteers her time educating students and surgeons in the field of orthopaedics in Rwanda.

Rohit Verma, MD, is a spine Surgeon at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, NY. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a BS in Biochemistry in 1995. He then pursued his medical degree from MCP- Hahnemann School of medicine in 2001. He gained an appreciation for orthopaedic inquires as track and field athlete in college, and pursued this as his career by completing an orthopaedic surgery residency at Northshore –LIJ in 2006.

As a resident Dr. Verma gained keen interest in spine surgery, leading to two spinal fellowships one in neurosurgical spine surgery and one in orthopaedic spinal surgery, which he completed in December of 2007 in Beverly Hills, CA. Dr. Verma is adept in all aspects of spine surgery and has written numerous articles and book chapters. He has lectured nationally and locally at numerous spin symposiums. He is adept at taking care of herniated discs, back pain, neck pain, degenerative disk, kyphosis, osteoporosis sciatica, scoliosis, spinal stenosis, spondylosis, spondylolisthesis, and whiplash. Dr. Verma specializes in instrumentation of the spine, motion preservation of the spin and minimally invasive spine surgery.

Dr. Sohrab Virk is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at North Shore University Hospital/Long Island Jewish Medical Center and at the Hofstra University North-Shore-LIJ Medical School. He brings a passion for individualized patient care of the spine. Dr. Virk is committed to using the latest minimally invasive spine surgical techniques to optimize recovery time and minimizing post-operative pain.

Dr. Virk earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and went on to medical school at Tufts University School of Medicine. He then completed an Orthopedic Surgery residency at The Ohio State University. Dr. Virk received specialized training in spine surgery at The Hospital for Special Surgery prior to starting at North Shore University/Long Island Jewish Medical Center.

Dr. Virk has a special clinical interest in applying Minimally Invasive Spine Surgical techniques and motion sparing technology to improve his patient’s outcomes. He has presented on outcomes/surgical techniques related to spine surgery at both National and International orthopedic and neurosurgical conferences.

A specialist in sports medicine and physical medicine and rehabilitation, Amy West, MD, EdM, FAAPMR is a graduate of Harvard Medical School, completed her residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Harvard-Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital and her fellowship in Sports Medicine at Maine Medical Center.

Dr. West focuses include non-operative sports medicine, musculoskeletal ultrasound, peripheral joint injections, electromyography (EMG), and concussion management. Her clinical and research interests include the female athlete, adaptive sports, lifestyle medicine, transgender athletes and nutrition. She is active in the CrossFit community, serving on the CrossFit Games Medical Team and participating in various Crossfit functions and outreach events. Dr. West has been featured on multiple podcasts and has authored peer-reviewed video and written publications.

A specialist in Orthopedic Surgery and sportsmedicine Ken Zaslav had been in practice for 30 years in Richmond Virginia. He was the founding member of the Sports Medicine Center and Cartilage Repair Center at Advanced Orthopedics,(Now Ortho Virginia) and a Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia Dept. of Orthopedic Surgery. In 2020 he joined the full time faculty practice at Lenox Hill Hospital Dept of Orthopedic Surgery as the Director of their Center for Regenerative Orthopedic Medicine.

His focus has been on shoulder and knee surgery and well as injuries to athletes and dancers for his entire practice. He has written extensively both on shoulder injuries and sports medicine topics. Most recently over the past decade his research interest has been in cartilage repair and Joint Preservation and now he is involved in Orthobiologic and Stem cell research. He performed the first Cartilage transplant in Virginia in 1996 and is the Past President of the International Cartilage Regeneration and Joint Preservation Society, a society of clinicians and scientists based in Zurich Sw, devoted to clinical and basic science research to preserve joints and function in patients with cartilage injury and  early arthritis. Dr. Zaslav is currently a founding member and The Secretary General of the Biologic Association based in the US.
