Stacey E.  Rosen, MD, Partners Council Professor of Women’s Health and Professor of Cardiology at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, is one of the leading experts in the field of cardiovascular disease in women’s health in her role as the Senior Vice President for the Katz Institute for Women’s Health, she oversees the development and coordination of a comprehensive and integrated approach to women’s health services at Northwell Health. In this role her mission has been to focus primarily on the elimination of health care disparities through comprehensive clinical programs, gender-based research, community partnerships and education.  She has been a practicing cardiologist for over 30 years.

Stacey has recently co-authored the book, Heart Smart for Women: Six S.T.E.P.S IN Six Weeks to Heart-Healthy Living, published in October 2017 and the Spanish version of the book, Un Corazón Saludable PARA La Mujer Moderna”, Seis P.A.S.O.S. En Seis Semanas Para Mantener La Salud Del Corazón, published January 2019., and has co-produced her first documentary titled “MsDiagnosed” which premiered at the Cinequest film festival on March 7, 2020.

She has served as a longtime volunteer for the American Heart Association with leadership positions at the local, regional and national levels and has been and has been a national spokesperson for the AHA’s Go Red for Women Movement. She served as a member of the AHA national committee 2016-2018 and currently serves as the President, Board of Directors, Eastern States for the AHA. In 2018 she received the AHA’s Women in Cardiology Mentoring Award.

Stacey is a graduate of the six-year medical program at Boston University School of Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Physicians, and the American Heart Association (AHA).

Stacey is a recipient of numerous media, industry and healthcare awards and is regularly called upon by the media as an expert on women’s heart health.

Dr. Neil Tanna is a Double Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon with a practice focused on cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face and breast. Dr. Tanna is a leader in his field, a respected educator, and a prolific author. He serves as Professor of Surgery at Zucker School of Medicine, Associate Program Director of Plastic Surgery at Northwell Health, and Medical Director of the Northwell Health Syosset SurgiCenter.

Dr. Tanna is among a very small group of Plastic Surgeons in the world to have completed formal training in Otolaryngology, Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, and Microvascular Surgery. After completing his medical training in one of the few combined six-year accelerated track medical programs in the country, Dr. Tanna spent an additional eight years training to become a Plastic Surgeon. He completed a full Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery residency at The George Washington University. He then pursued further training and completed a second full residency in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the prestigious University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). This was followed by a fellowship in advanced reconstructive and microvascular surgery at the Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery at New York University (NYU).

Dr. Neil Tanna is passionate about the art and science of plastic surgery. His work has been published in over 90 peer-reviewed articles in prestigious medical journals. He has been invited to present at more than 100 national and international scientific meetings. He is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and the American College of Surgeons.

In 2018, Dr. Tanna was promoted to the rank of Professor of Plastic Surgery with the Zucker School of Medicine, making him one of the youngest full professors at Northwell Health. This title was granted after rigorous internal and external review of Dr. Tanna s extraordinary accomplishments. This rank has national significance, as the average full professor in the United States is 55 years old.

As a leader in his field, Dr. Tanna has often been featured in national and international media outlets. He has frequently appeared on television and in award-winning newspapers and magazines. Among several noteworthy honors and awards, Dr. Tanna has also been listed in the New York Magazine Top Doctors, Castle Connolly Top Doctors, New York Times Super Doctors, and Newsday Top Doctors lists. This is a prestigious honor that is reserved for the small percentage of top practitioners that are true standouts in their field, nominated by their peers. Dr. Christopher Awwad earned his medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, Florida in 2013. He then completed his residency at Plainview Hospital where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Awwad provides primary care and gender-affirming care at the Northwell Health Physician Partners LGBTQ-Transgender Program in New Hyde Park. Additionally, he is currently the Associate Director of Hospital Medicine and the Program Director for the Transitional Year Residency Program at Plainview Hospital.  He holds an appointment as Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the Hofstra/Northwell Zucker School of Medicine.

(“Katie”) Beam is a Board-Certified Physician Assistant (PA) with the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Northwell Health.  Katie graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Quinnipiac University.  She obtained her Master of Health Science Degree from the Physician Assistant program at Lock Haven University.  Following this, she completed an additional year of rigorous surgical training as a PA resident at Norwalk Hospital.  Katie has worked collaboratively with Dr. Tanna in taking care of patients in the office and the operating room for the last 5 years.

Dr. Lauren Shikowitz-Behr is a Long Island native, Harvard fellowship-trained, and Board Certified Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon with expertise in cosmetic surgery of the breast, body, and face, plastic surgery after weight loss, and breast reconstruction. A true New Yorker, Dr. Shikowitz-Behr graduated with honors from New York University and subsequently went on to receive her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She was then accepted into the integrated Plastic Surgery residency program at Northwell Health where she trained in the full breadth of plastic surgery from complex microsurgical reconstruction to intricate aesthetic surgery and served as chief resident. Dr. Shikowitz-Behr was then selected to complete a highly specialized fellowship in advanced cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital, where she also served as an assistant instructor in plastic surgery for the Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Shikowitz-Behr is dedicated to advancing the field of plastic surgery. Her clinical research has been presented at regional and national meetings, and she has multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals. She enjoys teaching medical students and residents the intricate details of plastic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Shikowitz-Behr is proud to be a female plastic surgeon taking care of the Long Island community. Rosemarie L. Conigliaro, MD, FACP, NCMP, a native of Queens, received her undergraduate degree in Chemistry from NYU, her medical education at the State University of New York (SUNY) Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, and completed her internal medicine training at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Jacobi Medical Center. Her career as a Clinician-Educator and Clinician-Administrator includes leaderships roles at the University of Pittsburgh, the University of Kentucky, Montefiore/Albert Einstein in the Bronx, and Westchester Medical Center/New York Medical College. Currently she is the Section Chief for Women’s Health in the Division of General Internal Medicine, Director of Katz Institute for Women’s Health for the Deparment of  Internal Medicine, and Professor of Medicine, Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. Dr. Conigliaro has longstanding experience in both teaching and providing clinical care in Women’s Health, and recently became a NAMS Certified Menopause Provider. She is currently developing the Section of Women’s Health at Northwell to provide outstanding clinical care, educational and research programs within the Women’s Health arena.

Reva Gajer is a senior nurse practitioner in clinical cardiology for the Katz Institute for the Women’s Cardiac Program for the last 7 years. She acts as the supervising clinical coordinator for the program.

Her clinical practice includes the subspecialties of cardio oncology and high-risk cardio obstetrics.

Prior to her role in the Women’s Cardiac program, she was the senior nurse practitioner for 10+ years in Electrophysiology as an arrythmia consultant and supervisor for the cardiac device clinic.

Her clinical experience includes surgical management of cardiothoracic patients, adjunct professor at Nassau Community College and staff educator in critical care.

Robbins Gottlock MD is a practicing family medicine physician and the medical director of Northwell Health’s LGBT Healthcare Center of Excellence in Sleepy Hollow NY.  The center provides full LGBTQ services, including routine care, preventive care, PrEP, PEP, and transgender hormones in a welcoming and safe environment.  Dr. Gottlock also serves as the Medical Director of Ambulatory Primary Care & Medical Specialty Services, Northern Sub-Region for Northwell Health Physician Partners.

Dr. Susan Palleschi is the Director of Breast Surgery at Northwell Glen Cove Hospital. Born and raised on Long Island, she graduated Magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Biology. Thereafter she attended medical school at the State University of New York at StonyBrook School of Medicine. She completed her general surgery internship and residency at Massachusetts General Hospital, a Harvard affiliated program.

After completing her general surgery residency, Dr. Palleschi came back home to Long Island where she has been in practice in the community for over 23 years. For the last 19 years, she has dedicated herself solely to the practice of diseases and surgery of the breast. Her expertise in breast surgery includes the evaluation of patients with elevated breast cancer risk, genetic predisposition to breast cancer, and the evaluation and treatment of benign conditions and malignant diseases of the breast. Her surgical expertise includes wire-free localization excisional breast biopsies, breast conserving therapy, axillary sentinel lymph node biopsy, nipple areolar and skin sparing mastectomy, and nerve preserving mastectomy. She is passionate about her patient care and she believes that knowledge is power. She emphasizes the importance of patient education to empower her patients to make the most personalized and appropriate decisions regarding their care. She treasures the special relationships she develops with her patients.

Dr. Palleschi is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, and the Massachusetts General Hospital Alumni Society. Dr. Rosenthal sees adults adolescents and children and specializes in Allergy Asthma and Clinical Immunology. He sees patients with rashes (urticaria) eczema rhinitis post nasal drip recurrent cough frequent infections recurrent infections HIV/AIDS and other immune disorders. He is also the Medical Director for the Center for Young Adult Adolescent and Pediatric HIV. In addition to practicing clinical medicine Dr. Rosenthal performs basic science and translational medical research at the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research. He actively studies immune responces to viruses. Dr. Sneha Shrivastava is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hostra/Northwell, Director of Women’s Health Education at the Division of General Internal Medicine and core faculty at the residency program. She is a practicing general internist, a women’s health clinician and menopause certified from NAMS. She earned her medical degree from St. Georges University and Master of Medical Education from Hofstra University. She completed her internal medicine training from Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and GIM fellowship from Northwell Health. She has written a book chapter on PCOS which has been accepted for publication in the Medical Clinics of North America.

Penny Stern MD, MPH, FACPM, FACOEM is the AVP of Preventive Medicine & Clinical Programs in the Katz Institute for Women’s Health and the Department of Occupational Medicine, Epidemiology, and Prevention. She is also a team member of the Center for Equity of Care and serves on the Employee Wellness Team. Dr. Stern is the Immediate Past President, Faculty Council of the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, the Co-Chair of Northwell’s Continuing Medical Education (CME) Committee and an Assistant Professor at the School of Medicine, where she serves on the Admissions Committee.

Dr. Stern earned her MD with special distinction for research in neuropathology from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha National Honor Medical Society. As part of her residency training in Preventive Medicine at Cornell, she earned her MPH at the Columbia (now Mailman) School of Public Health. She completed an additional residency in Occupational Medicine at the Mount Sinai Medical Center. She maintains appointments as a Clinical Assistant Professor at both Weill-Cornell and Mount Sinai and has taught medical students at Cornell for over two decades. Dr. Stern is board-certified and is a fellow of both the American College of Preventive Medicine and the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. She is also New York State-certified in medical acupuncture. Prior to coming to Northwell, Dr. Stern was the Associate Medical Director and later the Deputy Medical Director at the World Trade Center Health Program at Mount Sinai and served as Medical Director at the Pfizer manufacturing facility in Brooklyn NY until its closure. At Pfizer, where she oversaw the medical department, she was responsible for the workplace health and safety of over 1200 employees.

A former president of the Queens County Medical Society and the New York Occupational and Environmental Medicine Association, Dr. Stern continues to be involved in organized medicine on both the local and national levels. She is also an experienced medical editor and journalist, having worked in television (Lifetime Medical Television), on-line (ReutersHealth.com), and print (multiple outlets). At ReutersHealth, she published hundreds of medical news articles for both consumer and professional audiences.

Jeannine Villella, DO, FACOG, FACS, is vice chair of gynecology, chief of gynecologic oncology at Lenox Hill Hospital and an associate professor at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. She is a board-certified gynecologic oncologist and leader and mentor at Lenox Hill Hospital. She’s committed to screening, diagnosis, treatment, outcomes and research to improve the lives of women with gynecologic cancers. She has created a robust and comprehensive program at Lenox Hill Hospital that is expanding across the region.

Dr. Villella believes cutting edge patient care can be delivered with a humanistic approach that optimizes patient quality of life. Her practice provides screening, diagnosis, surgery, chemotherapy, clinical trials, translational research, survivorship and palliative care, all to deliver the optimum continuity of care. “We provide a continuum of state-of-the-art care to patients in a place that feels like home. It’s the awareness and attention to detail in all aspects of patient care that matters.” She’s highly experienced in minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic surgical techniques, which treat cancers with a faster recovery and minimal pain. For women with more advanced tumors, Dr. Villella performs comprehensive advanced open abdominal procedures aimed at maximal tumor resection to enhance surgical outcome.

Dr. Villella is committed to research and advancing science. She participates in progressive ovarian cancer immunotherapy clinical trials aimed at harnessing the immune response to malignancy. She has studied this novel approach for more than 19 years. “I am fascinated by the immune system and the potential it has to eliminate cancer.”

She has become widely known for her passion and expertise in Phase I clinical trials, which are opportunities for patients to receive novel therapeutics with tremendous promise when other options have been exhausted or toxicities prohibit the use of other agents. “Typically, these trials enroll a limited number of patients globally, so these are coveted opportunities that provide hope for patients who otherwise may not have viable or tolerable alternatives for treatment,” she states. “Although the responsibility is tremendous, it’s my passion, and I’ll continue to search for ways to eradicate gynecologic cancers.”

Dr. Whitehead is a gender affirmation, hand, and plastic surgeon at Northwell Health. Their clinical focus is primarily on chest and genital gender affirmation surgery. They went to medical school at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. They completed a plastic surgery residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore in the Bronx, a Hand Surgery fellowship at University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, Massachusetts, and a fellowship in Gender Confirmation Surgery at Louis A. Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. They are board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and have subspecialty certification Surgery of the Hand. They go by any pronoun.
